PRO-SITIONING YOUR BRAND FOR GROWTH

This week we'll be conducting our "Open" Power Brand Positioning Workshop. Those that will be participating will learn about "Prositioning," a term we coined for proactive positioning versus "repositioning," which is reactive. Sorry we'll miss those of you not attending the Open program but we wanted to share something that may be currently missing in your marketing. Click below to read the entire article. You can learn more about "Prositioning" at next year's Open. We hope we'll see you there.

TOTAL QUALITY POSITIONING

Remember that hot strategy topic of the 1990's, Total Quality Management? As far as we know, TQM is still alive and well, particularly in those organizations that invested in learning how to implement it some years back. In reconsidering some of the basics of TQM, a nagging question occurred to us: Why hasn't anyone adapted and implemented the TQM principles to brand positioning? (If they have, it has been little noted, that's for sure.) We think virtually all of the fundamentals of TQM apply to brand positioning development and implementation as well. So, for this week, let's take a look at what we’re calling TQP: Total Quality Positioning.

THE LEADERSHIP VALUES AND PRACTICES OF JIM BURKE

James Edward Burke, better known as "Jim" to all at Johnson & Johnson, died on Friday, 28 September, at the age of 87. Jim served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at J&J from 1976 - 1989. He is deservedly credited with successfully leading the company through the Tylenol crises of 1982 and 1986, and building the trust that brand and company earned, and enjoyed for many years.

There is much to be learned from not only the way he led and inspired his company but how he managed his life.
